Did you know that vinaigrette is a Russian cuisine salad that is also popular in other post-Soviet countries. It includes diced vegetables, chopped onions and pickles and / or pickles. Sometimes other ingredients are added, such as green peas or beans.

Despite its widespread popularity in Russia and Ukraine, basic mixed salad recipes were adopted from Western European cuisines as far back as the 19th century. Originally, the term vinegret referred to any mixture of cooked vegetables, cut and mixed with vinegar. Later the meaning changed to any mixed salad with beets. The possibility of adding mushrooms, meat or fish is still mentioned in modern Russian and Ukrainian cookbooks.
