In other countries, however, the name is associated with the name sweet pepper and powdered paprika, which very well complements meat dishes, vegetable stews and soups, giving a special taste and color. Paprika is not only a spice or vegetable that gives color and taste, but also rich in vitamin C and carotenoids, providing various benefits for health and beauty.

What is a pepper and where did it come from?

Paprika or sweet pepper, pepper or capsicum are the fruits of plants Capsicum annuum species Grossum variety group. Plant varieties produce fruits of different colors, including red, yellow, orange, green, white and purple. Peppers are sometimes grouped with less pungent varieties such as chilli pepper. Although they are fruits - botanically classified as berries - they are commonly used as an ingredient in vegetables. The structure and shape of the peppers are similar regardless of their color. The smooth outer skin protects the fresh, crispy flesh inside. The fruit is hollow, countless seeds gather in the center and adhere to the white membrane on the walls. The preferred growing conditions for sweet peppers are warm, moist soil and the temperature must be between 21 and 29 ° C.

The paprika is native to Mexico, Central America and northern South America. Their seeds were imported to Spain in 1493 and then spread throughout Europe and Asia. The light pepper variety was developed in the 1920s In Szeged, In Hungary.
